Since 1983 the Foundation, created by the British Chamber
of Commerce in Germany, offers scholarships to British and
German students who plan to study in the other’s country.
It is managed independent of BCCG.
As an example, through generous donations by business and
many individuals, the Foundation was able to assist five
students in 2008 in reaching their goal of attaining
academic know-how and general life experience in the other
country.
The particular, long lasting contribution by British
Airways also calls for special mention in their providing
award winners with free flights to enable an easier
take-off in life.
Through this exchange of talented, ambitious, young
students, the Foundation makes a significant contribution
for the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, which sets
out to intensify the already very intensive business and
cultural activities between the United Kingdom and
Germany.
Students’ reports written on completion of their stay
abroad, repeatedly emphasize that in addition to the
valuable academic know-how acquired, new friendships and
social contacts play an extremely important role in what
at first seems a very foreign environment.
