34th Anniversary of the BCCG Foundation (Stiftung)
Since 1983 the Foundation, created by the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, offers scholarships to British and German students who plan to study in the other's country. It is managed independently of BCCG.
As an example, through generous donations by business and many individuals, the Foundation was able to assist altogether five students in 2017 (including one Anglo-German Club Award Winner) in reaching their goal of attaining academic know-how and general life experience in the other country.
Many thanks to our long standing supporter Anglo-German Club, Hamburg and the BCCG members Rolls-Royce Deutschland and Lloyd's Versicherer London who once again supported the BCCG Foundation with a special contribution in 2017. We are very grateful for this generosity of our supporters as well as for all large and small donations we received.
The 2017/2018 Award Winners are:
- Wilko Dirks, Portsmouth
- Nadine Hauptmeier, Edinburgh
- André Hubert, Glasgow
- Tim Kanzleiter, London
- Leonie Oberländer, London
Through this exchange of talented, ambitious, young students, the Foundation makes a significant contribution for the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, which sets out to intensify the already very intensive business and cultural activities between the United Kingdom and Germany.
Students' reports written on completion of their stay abroad, repeatedly emphasize that in addition to the valuable academic know-how acquired, new friendships and social contacts play an extremely important role in what at first seems a very foreign environment. Hereafter please find the BCCG Foundation Award winners of the academic year 2016/2017 with their reports about their stay abroad (pls. click on names):
- Dr. Max-Niklas Blome, London
- Michael Ganslmeier, London

"The BCCG Foundation is a charity well worth supporting. We are, after all, helping to promote the understanding between the people of the United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Germany an essential step within today’s European Union."

"EY is a global organisation which for many years supports the BCCG. In times where less and less British pupils and students focus on learning German, it is furthermore my particular personal desire to support not only the BCCG (as a member of the regional NRW Committee), but also the BCCG Foundation as a member of the Board of Trustees in its efforts to foster a vivid exchange of German-British students. Despite a very close relationship between our countries, I believe that it is vital to continuously support younger generations in the multicultural exchange."
